Good Standing
What “Good Standing” Means for a Missouri PTA Unit
A local PTA or PTSA unit is considered in good standing with Missouri PTA when it meets required organizational, financial, and reporting obligations each year.
Being in good standing:
- Allows your unit to participate in state and national PTA programs (such as Reflections, grants, and awards)
- Maintains your unit’s nonprofit status under Missouri PTA’s group exemption
- Ensures your unit is recognized, supported, and protected as part of the PTA organization
Good standing helps protect your PTA and its volunteers by keeping your unit aligned with state and national PTA requirements.

Why This Matters
These requirements help ensure that PTA units operate responsibly, transparently, and in alignment with PTA policies. Staying in good standing allows Missouri PTA to continue supporting and protecting local units and their volunteers.
If a unit falls out of good standing, eligibility for programs and recognition may be paused. Once missing items are submitted, units are typically restored to good standing.
