The PTA Clothing Bank

The PTA Clothing Bank is operated by Springfield Council of PTAS (a 501c3 not-for-profit). 100% of donations go to helping purchase clothing for students of Springfield Public Schools who qualify for free/reduced lunches (or are referred by a principal, counselor, or school nurse due to emergency circumstances). We have no overhead because our helpers are all volunteers and SPS provides the space at no cost to the Council. National PTA Awards of Excellence!

Congratulations to Emma Lewis and Keren Ding, both from Central High School, who won awards from National PTA Reflections! 

Emma Lewis won an Award of Excellence in Literature with her poem, “I Am Hopeful Because…”. Keren Ding won an Award of Excellence in Visual Arts with her piece, “A Life Amidst the Flame”. Both Emma and Keren will receive a $200 Young Artist Scholarship, a Silver Medal, a Certificate of Excellence, and their work will be featured in National PTA’s virtual exhibition.

From 45 state PTA congresses, National PTA received over 900 student entries inspired by the 2023-2024 Reflections theme I am Hopeful Because…. Of those submissions, seven received an Outstanding Interpretation Award and just over 200 student artists won Awards of Excellence and Merit.

SCPTA Nominated for SPS Volunteer Award

Springfield Council of PTAs has been nominated as a Springfield Public School District Partner in Excellence for the 2023-2024 school year. We will be recognized at a community partner event May 2. This recognition underscores the significant contributions our organization has made to the district, positively impacting students and the broader community!

Pencils

Springfield Council of PTAs is collecting new pencils to be given out at the Back to School Bash. Please help by collecting pencils at your school and bringing them to our May meeting.

Teacher Appreciation

National PTA has designated the first week of May as Teacher Appreciation Week since 1984.

2024-2025 Reflections Theme

It’s never too early to start thinking about a new Reflections program! Resources for the 2024-2025 Reflections theme “Accepting Imperfection” are now available! Use them to get your family inspired about creating art and encourage your children to participate in Reflections.

To confirm your table sponsorship and secure your spot at the event, please complete the attached sponsorship form and return it by Friday, March 29.

Congratulations Hillcrest HS PTSA: National PTA Grant Recipient

Hillcrest posted on their Facebook Page: “We are thankful for the National Parent Teacher Association grant we received to encourage Hillcrest High School – SPS students to commit to a tobacco free future!”

Hillcrest HS PTSA partnered with Hillcrest DECA and Hillcrest HOSA Club to host this event. Hillcrest DECA made t-shirts and students had a chance to win on April 1st during their tobacco free advocacy day if they sign the commitment form to be TOBACCO FREE. The HOSA club hosted an educational table on the harms of tobacco. Hillcrest HS PTSA: “It’s great to team with these amazing student groups as they encourage their friends to remain and go tobacco free.”
